the VINTAGE homo
I like looking back on the past. And only till recently have I really delved into my adoration for the “vintage gay”.
Back in a time when the closet was the ONLY choice I look at these photos and feel gladness for the folks pictured, for they had friends/family/someone they loved and trusted enough to be themselves with. To be gay…
…as frankly someone had to take these pictures and whether they were fellow queers or not ( which is immaterial really) they were apart of someone’s queer life, and not minding one bit, in a time when MOST had issue with homosexuality (and for some that still holds true today).
Like these vintage gays, I feel so fortunate and lucky, frankly, to have a really sweet support network in my personal life BUT also at work too, which I think is so important in enabling me to live more proud. And at least today we have more of a choice…
to stay in or leap out.
